WHAT WE BELIEVE

God God is the Creator and Ruler of the Universe and eternally exists in three personalities: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Jesus Christ Jesus Christ is God in human flesh. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He rose from the dead after three days to demonstrate his power over sin and death. He ascended into heaven and will come again to judge the living and the dead, and to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

The Holy Spirit We believe in the Holy Spirit who proceeds from and is One in being with the Father and the Son. The Spirit convinces the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment.  The Spirit leads, convicts, comforts, and guides us into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.  The Spirit brings us into fellowship with the Church.

The Bible We believe that God inspired the composition and collection of the Old and New Testaments. It is the living Word of God that is timeless, eternal, and true.

Grace

Prevenient—God loves us and calls into a relationship before we are ever aware of God’s work.
Justifying—The moment that we recognize our own sinfulness and need for redemption and accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior.
Sanctifying—Work of the Holy Spirit in our lives to help us learn, grow, overcome, and work towards a deeper and more meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ and the Church.

Free Will We have the choice to choose or reject God.  Through the power of the Holy Spirit we have the ability to exercise our will for good.

Sacraments We believe the Sacraments, ordained by Christ, are symbols and pledges of the Christian’s profession of faith and of God’s love toward us. They are means of grace by which God works invisibly in us, quickening, strengthening, and confirming our faith in Him. The two Sacraments ordained by Christ our Lord are Baptism and the Lord’s Supper (Communion.)

Generosity:  When you give to God through Wesley United Methodist Church, you are making an investment in changing lives.   We are deeply grateful for the gifts we receive, knowing that a choice has been made to trust and support God’s work here.  Thank you so much for your willingness to give generously!
