Youth Ministry Associate

Wesley United Methodist Church is growing and transforming in the South Charlotte community. We are seeking a Christian Youth Ministry Associate who is excited to be a part of our team starting Fall 2022.

Time requirements:
• This is a part-time role currently requiring 10- 12 hours per month. Weekly hours are flexible and some could be remote if desired.
• Two Sundays per month from 9:30-11:30 are mandatory requiring in-person leadership and engagement with our children and youth at Wesley United Methodist Church.
• 9:30 -10:15 am: Responsible for leading a small group of elementary and middle-school-aged kids in fun, faith-based learning activities prior to Worship Service.
• 10:30-11:30 am: Responsible for providing an activity for third graders and younger, separately from the worship service.
Monthly hours outside of the Sunday Engagement would include the following:
• Planning/Preparing for the in-person Sunday morning engagement. The associate will be supported with curriculum and resources.
• On-going communication with the families/parents encouraging and inspiring active involvement in their kids’ faith journey.
• Necessary communication to staff including the Pastor with updates. Staff functions in a team model.

• Enthusiastic about connecting with all age groups from elementary school to high school kids.
• Resourceful in exploring innovative ways to support our children’s faith journey.
• Enjoys corresponding with families in the congregation through in-person and electronic forms of communication about the children’s ministry and events.
• Eager to encourage volunteers within the church to support the growing children’s ministry.
• Comfortable in a leadership role with pastoral supervision.
• Flexible with positive change and growth in a smaller church setting.
